For the most up-to-date information about the status of our project, check our project updates on Indiegogo!

Will I ever get my bowl?

Yes. The final samples are being reviewed now. All the design and manufacturing challenges have been resolved. Mass production is due to commence on June 25th 2021. Shipping during Covid times takes 45 days instead of 30 days unfortunately however, so you can expect to receive your bowl in the post late August - Early September. These dates are aren’t final however, so please keep an eye out for updates.

What about the silicone inserts?

The response to our survey asking people to indicate the purchase intent of the inserts was very encouraging. As a result, we have added the inserts to the BackerKit survey as a “stretch goal”. If we recieve at least 400 unit orders of 4x inserts, that will trigger the production of the inserts. If we do not reach 400 unit orders however, we will put the product on the backburner for next year. You will not be charged in that case if you made the purchase order. We require 400 orders minimum due to the high cost of mold creation and MOQ (minimum order quantities) which is a function of mass production economics. Normally we need to order 1,000 units minimum, but we decided to absorb that extra cost and lower the bar for viability due to the overwhelming popularity of the inserts. Please order as quickly as possible on the backerkit survey so we can reach 400 units and make the inserts a reality!

What’s the science behind IGGI Bowl?

The whole Meal Mindfulness system is based on three main principles; mindfulness, portion control, and food displacement or what we call “Calorie Cloaking”. Portion Control and mindfulness are established tools that have been widely practiced for decades. Portion control is still the most recommended tool for weight loss by health professionals to this day.

What’s the science behind IGGI Bowl? (cont)

Mindfulness is well-known for its age old therapeutic benefits and is constantly increasing in popularity (according to Google trends). Food displacement as a mechanism to reduce caloric intake is quickly gaining credence in a field of science known as ‘Sensory Perception Manipulation’ which includes studying how color, shape and the environment can affect how much food we consume.

What’s the science behind IGGI Bowl? (cont)

We based our design on studies and research from academic papers published by well-known Universities such as MIT, Harvard and Cornel. Whilst this is relatively new research, there is very good evidence that we can indeed ‘hack’ our brain into more desired outcomes.

What about colors? I really hope you will offer other colors. I like pretty colors: sage, pink, robin egg blue.

We are very excited to offer more colors in the immediate future! It was unfortunately not possible in our first production run because of limited quantities, but that is our first priority in future product development!

Does it work for vegans & vegetarians?

Yes. IGGI Meal Mindfulness was designed in fact to reduce how much meat we eat. In keeping with Health.gov recommendations, you will notice that there are 4 segments in the bowl, not 3 as with many portion control plates. This is because it is now recommended we eat far less meat for our health and for Climate Change reasons. These 4 segments also allow vegans and vegetarians to fill the bowl with more varied ingredients or simply use other non-animal product proteins in this segment.

What are all those little bumps in the bowl for?

We call those little bumps ‘beads’ and they serve 2 purposes apart from aesthetics. The first is to hold the divider in place so when you fill the bowl everything stays nice and stable. The second is so you can eyeball the quantity, and for example serve a little less dense foods like rice or semolina, or simply serve yourself less more consistently.

Where are your parts sourced from?

We are currently sourcing ceramic bowls and other parts from Portugal and China.

Last updated: June 02, 2021 07:05

Will you be able to offer replacement parts?

Yes! Once we have completed our first run of production to fulfill all of the orders from our crowdfunding campaign we will be offering all IGGI products for sale through our own channels.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
